In the Light of the Apocalypse of the Age of Michael

THE TIME IS AT HAND!

Ahrimanic and Michaelic Immortality and the Apocalypse of the Age of Michael

The goal of the movement of Michael in the twenty-first

century, the second, middle century of his present age, will

only be understood, if we realize that its living centre is the

new appearance of the etheric Christ, discovered and expe-

rienced through the new Michaelic impulse. And this points

clearly to our immediate task in the coming 2020s and 30s: to

build this community on ‘Mount Zion’, around ‘the Lamb’,

as John says in chapter 14 of Revelation, on such strong foundations

 that it will continue to grow and become stronger, widening

the bridge to the etheric world each day, and letting the temple of

the earthly-human Sun become visible among humans, despite all hindrances, in the

first half of the century.

 

 Now that we are better acquainted with what those priests knew, who listened to

Rudolf Steiner in September 1924, we can also better experi-

ence their second major surprise, when Rudolf Steiner told

them that the second Beast would also appear at the end of

the twentieth century, in 1998:

We are now facing the age of the third 666—1998. At the end of

this century we will come to the time when Sorat will again raise

its head most strongly from the tides of evolution, where it will be

the adversary of that sight of the Christ, which those people who

are prepared for it will already have in the first half of the twen-

tieth century when the etheric Christ becomes visible. It will take

only 2/3 of this century until Sorat will raise its head in a mighty

way... There are already today developments that rage against the

spiritual. But these are only the first seeds.

Just imagine this: until this moment, we could continue our

sleep rather comfortably, knowing that the first Beast will

only appear far in the future, at the end of the evolution of

the earth and the second Beast after it. And now—lo and

behold!—we are told that the first Beast will appear in 1933,

in only nine years, and that it must be recognized before the

etheric Christ can be rightly grasped; and we would then

remember that a week earlier, Rudolf Steiner already told

us that the second Beast will raise its head in 1998, fighting

against the new revelation of the etheric Christ. Suddenly, if

you were listening to these lectures, you would have found

yourself confronted by the most unsettling prediction, that

in 1933 to 1998 the two Beasts will intervene together in the

immediate present evolution of humanity, not only at its end.

And please mark the tight timetable of these events: the last

lecture on Revelation to the priests was given on 22 Septem-

ber, and on 28 September, on Michaelmas eve, 1924, Rudolf

Steiner delivered his last address and on 30 March, 1925, he

took leave of the physical world!

This is the reason we felt obliged to at least indicate in some

words in The Twilight and Resurrection of Humanity how the

two Beasts have been working together since 1998, and how at

the end of the twentieth century, the prediction of Chapter 13

was fulfilled, and the two Beasts took over our entire civili-

zation, because the culmination of the Michaelic movement

didn’t take place at the end of the century. Rather, the ‘culmi-

nation’ of Ahriman’s century did occur and he could offer his

power ceremonially to the two Beasts, who took it over from

him. Since then we truly are living in ‘the grave of civiliza-

tion’, predicted by Rudolf Steiner if the Michaelic plan for the

twentieth century failed.

You can well imagine that I have been particularly inter-

ested in these questions, because once you experience how

the two Beasts united their forces at the end of the century,

you are faced with great difficulties. You must find the inner

cognitive and moral strength to face this reality, to recognize

it and cope with it, if you want to find the right way to experi-

ence the death and resurrection of the etheric Christ inside the

grave of civilization, and help Him lift the heaviest stone: the

dominance of the two Beasts, who naturally fight vehemently

against any effort to do so.

This is where we stand now. This is truly what is happen-

ing. And true spiritual science has the task to investigate

reality and communicate this knowledge to the people who

want to receive it. The good news that we described from var-

ious points in The Twilight and Resurrection of Humanity, is that

in the twenty-first century, after Chapter 13 of Revelation is

completed in our time and the two Beasts are beginning to

dominate human evolution, we also receive the first glimpse

of what is described in Chapter 14. This contains the first

Imagination of the spiritual movement of our time, of those

who remained loyal to Michael through the apocalypse of

the twentieth century, even if to begin with, it is a rather invis-

ible underground etheric movement. It is called Zion in this

chapter, and the inspired Wachowski brothers also applied

it to name the surviving human enclave in the centre of the

earth in The Matrix trilogy. This is the reversed ahrimanic

Imagination of the New Jerusalem, the seed of future Jupiter,

which lives however not in the middle of the old earth, but in

the middle of the new etheric earthly-human Sun.

It is important to understand the true meaning of what

John says in Chapter 14, but this will only be possible if we

understand the history of the twentieth century in the light

of Chapters 12 and 13. In Chapter 14 he says, ‘Then I looked,

and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion,

and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s

name written on their foreheads.’ This means that these peo-

ple could marshal the forces of the Christ, actualize them to

develop the forces of spiritual cognition, which means, to

imprint Christ’s name, the power of His I AM, on their fore-

heads. In other words, the forces of love and compassion,

of true healing, could become so active and creative in their

hearts, that they could recognize the Christ and not mis-

take Him and reverse Him into the opposite to worship the

Beasts instead. They could consciously overcome the power

of the Beasts and allow the living stream of Christ-Michael

to incarnate and develop on earth, inside the grave of civili-

zation. The Apocalypse of St John emphasizes it again in this

passage, by saying that ‘They follow the Lamb wherever he

goes’. And this is precisely the goal of the School of Spiritual

Science in the twenty-first century, to ‘follow the Lamb wher-

ever he goes’. And John also describes the global nature of

this School, which is essential for our work in this century,

namely, that Michael’s true pupils are ‘purchased from among

mankind and offered as the first fruits to God and the Lamb’.

From all the nations of the world the future brotherhood of

Philadelphia, of the sixth cultural epoch, will be assembled,

the potent human seed of which must be prepared in the pres-

ent age of Michael.
