On the eve of the 33rd anniversary of its publication, The Spiritual Event of the Twentieth Century remains an exceptional work. On the one hand, the author offers a pioneering, first-hand testimony of Rudolf Steiner’s prophetic statements regarding the ‘new Christ Revelation’. On the other, he presents his own findings, based on Imaginative consciousness, of ‘the Spiritual Event of the Twentieth Century’. Ben-Aharon gives a unique account of events that took place in the spiritual world during the fateful twelve-year period from 1933 to 1945 – encompassing the rise to power of National Socialism and culminating in the end of the Second World War.

Through coming to a fully conscious understanding of this ‘Spiritual Event’, we can gain the courage needed to renew and enliven the spiritual science of anthroposophy as ‘the universal human language of our age’. In addition to his description of the ‘Century’s Event’, the author discusses ‘The New Soul Faculties’, ‘The Relation Between Supersensible and Physical Events’, ‘The Rebirth of Anthroposophy since the End of the Twentieth Century’ and ‘Anthroposophy as the Living Language of the Present’. His words have a particular significance for the grouping of souls which the spiritual scientist Rudolf Steiner referred to as the ‘Michael School’.

Note on the Third Edition

When I review my first book more than thirty years after its first edition was published in 1993, I have the feeling that the Imagination of the Spiritual Event of the Twentieth Century, described in the third chapter, should not be changed. This Event stands today before my inner eye as it stood then. The original formulation and formation, that summarized 15 years of research, has its own unique consistency. Only the notes, preface, introduction and the auxiliary chapters had to be updated, out of the signs of the present time.
