During the mysterious event at the Jabbok Passage, the Archangel Michael, with whom Jacob wrestled the whole night, and prevailed, became the Folk Spirit of the emerging people of Israel, in the service of Jehovah, the God responsible for the evolution of humanity and the Earth

"Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome." (Genesis 32:28)

From that moment on, Michael became the leading and guiding spirit of the chosen Hebrew people- the bearer of “the Name”- destined to prepare the incarnation of the higher self of humanity and the earth:

"See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him”. (Exodus, 23:20-2)

The Bible doesn’t explicitly mention angelic names often, but in the book of the prophet Daniel, that deals with the Apocalypse, Michael is mentioned three times as the Folk Spirit of the Hebrew people:

“The prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.” (10:13-14)

“I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth, but no one supports me against them except Michael, your prince”. (10:21)

The following apocalyptic verse requires us to deepen our understanding and practice of spiritual science, to link the Festival of Michael, as a modern spiritual path, to the riddles of contemporary history, which Michael guides as the Time Spirit, and the mystery of the destiny of the Jewish people that intertwined with it; I believe we all know what time of the 20thcentury Daniel is referring to:

”At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.(Daniel 12:1)

This is the reason why the Jewish’s celebration of the beginning of the new year was moved from sprint to fall, because Michael is the spirit of the Fall. His forces increase gradually the more the days are shortened and the nights get longer, and the external natural forces give way to the inner spiritual activity of the human being. The Jewish festivals of the Fall, in whose center Yom Kippur is established- the holiest day in the Jewish calendar- are based on this fact, that Michael was the Folk Spirit of the Jewish People. In the whole Jewish calendar it is Michael Himself who poured forth and embodied His creative spirit, through the whole year, and especially in the holy days of the fall, starting with the beginning of the month of Ellul and reaching intensive culmination through through Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.

Do you want to know and experience the Festival of Michael and the Jewish holy days of the Fall as a modern spiritual path, in connection with the mystery of the destiny of the Jewish people?
