Ahrimanic and Michaelic Immortality and the Apocalypse of the Age of Michael

Preface
On 13 January 1924 Rudolf Steiner published the Foundation Stone Meditation in the newsletter of the anthroposophical society. In the same day, the soul of Helmut von Moltke, that died in 1916, communicated through Rudolf Steiner the following words to his wife. In the spiritual world, the soul of Moltke sees the 20thcentury from its end backward, and tells his wife that before the end of the century the goals of the Christmas Foundation Conferee cannot be fulfilled:
"Yes, if only this were heard: ‘practice spirit remembering,’ ‘Practice spirit awareness’, ‘practice spirit seeing’. But human beings will only hear it when the Michael spirit succeeds in finding in the astral light the trails leading to the spirit altar upon which burns the astral flame that Ahriman fears.
No doubt this will take until the end of the century. For as yet the eyes are not there that could perceive the Christ walking in the ether light. Eyes filled with the discord at work in humanity will not be able to have such vision". [1]
The lectures included in the present book were delivered in 2017 and 2022, form part of the practical work in the global school of spiritual science. This work intends to demonstrate that since the end of last century, some ‘eyes are there that do perceive the Christ walking in the ether light’, and that as a result of this perception, ‘the Michael spirit succeeded in finding in the astral light the trails leading to the spirit altar upon which burns the astral flame that Ahriman fears’. This altar is the free etheric heart, and its fire can only be kindled through the new revelation of the etheric Christ. This takes place when human beings unite their hearts in creative collaboration, to form the new Michaelic community through sacred enthusiasm, love and creative joy.
If we continue to form this community in the 20’, 30’ and 40’ of this century, some humans will be found, that ‘will hear it’ because their eyes will not be blinded by ‘the discord at work in humanity’. Their eyes and ears will be opened by the all-encompassing love and brotherhood, inspired by the etheric Christ, walking among us in his etheric form.
As I write this preface, we celebrate in the school of spiritual science the three great centenary events of the burning of the first Goetheanum in Sylvester 1922, the Christmas Foundation Conference of 1923-4, and Rudolf Steiner’s death on 30 March 1925. This time is crucial, because we must be able to demonstrate that after a century some human souls have heard and answered the cosmic-earthly call of Michael and work together to actualize it.
The 21st century is the second, middle century of the three centuries of the present age of Michael, and it is the most decisive one. If humanity misses again the goal of Michael, it will be hardly possible to recuperate it, and human evolution will be derailed for a long time. The preset age of Michael can therefore rightly be called ‘the Apocalypse of the age of Michael’. The most important goal of Michael in his present age is that the new revelation of the etheric Christ will be fully grasped because the resurrection of humanity deepens on this. This is the center of the work in the school of spiritual science and the lectures can serve as introduction to The Twilight and Resurrection of Humanity and as extension to some of its subjects.
